Mario will also be signing his recently published book, Croatia, a 340 page exploration of his native country.

Tamburitza Rroma (T-Rroma), this year's headliner, is based in Chicago but its musical roots — and its fan base — spread far beyond that city's boundaries. Its repertoire, which includes original as well as folk and modern compositions, is rich and diverse. At every performance T-Rroma takes its audience on a compelling worldwide journey that stretches from the Balkans to South America, punctuated from start to finish by everything from hushed and haunting ballads to powerful, pulsating Latin rhythms.

Also performing are; Sidro, Novi Stari Tamburasi, Dalmacijo Singers, Koraci Croatian Dance Ensemble, Slavonian Traveling Band, Tommy Yeseta and the St. Anthony Tamburica Orchestra of Los Angeles

There will be a presentation about the History of Tamburitza music and its Romani (Gypsy) influences by Mark Forry at 4PM on Saturday , and a panel discussion with T-Troma at 1PM on Sunday.

Acaba de publicarse Goli otok – el infierno en el Adriatico, una historia de la vida, el escape, la muerte de un hombre en la segunda posguerra. Se trató de Josip Zoretic, uno de los tantos disidentes que Tito torturó y mantuvo preso en ese Gulag Adriatico, Goli Otok, la isla desnuda.

Al decir de Michael McAdams, este libro que tiene descripciones vívidas, francas y a veces brutales del dia a dia de los prisioneros, arroja luz sobre la verdad del “comunismo humanitario” que muchos quieren vender. Es, pues, un aporte más para esclarecer parte de los innumerables crímenes del dictador Josip Broz.
