Croatian World Games 2014


Croats from around the world are invited to participate in the Croatian World Games, to be held between 21 and 26 July, 2014 and will take place in Zagreb. These are the third Croatian World Games. The previous ones took place in 2006 and 2010 and more than 800 competitors participated from 40 countries around the world.

The organizer of this important project is the Croatian World Congress, an umbrella association of Croatian emigrants worldwide, which is an international, nonprofit, nonpartisan, member of the United Nations, and which connects organizations and institutions from and Croatia and Croats living abroad, creating better conditions for the interests of Croats outside the fatherland.

The Games are held under the auspices of the President of Croatia. The sponsors are the Croatian Parliament, the State Office for Croatians outside the Republic of Croatia, the City of Zagreb, the Croatian Heritage Foundation, the Tourist Board of Zagreb, individual counties, cities and municipalities, the Croatian Olympic Committee, the Croatian Football Association and many national sports federations.

The games are held in the following summer sports: athletics, bowls, judo, karate, basketball, football, indoor soccer (futsal), volleyball, beach volleyball, swimming, rugby, handball, tennis, table tennis, taekwondo, waterpolo. The exact number of disciplines will be determined according to the number of registered participants. The deadline for registration is May 1, 2014.

In addition to participants from outside the fatherland, participants from Croatia and from Bosnia and Herzegovina will also participate in the Games.

It is not necessary that the participants be members of a sports organization, cultural or other association, but you need to have Croatian ancestry. To participate in the Games you must be over 16, and participation is done as part of a national team.

Requests to participate in the Games are made through the national organizing committees that have been established in all participating countries, and veterans may also participate, that is people over 35 years in all the above disciplines.
