Mladen V. Wickerhauser Croatian American mathematician

Mladen V. Wickerhauser is Croatian American mathematician working at Washington University St. Louis, Missouri. His field of professional interestes is in the wavelet analysis and signal processing. In March 2009 he visited his native Zagreb and delivered a lecture at the Department of Mathematics, PMF, University of Zagreb. Dr. Željko Hanjš, University of Zagreb, made a very interesting interview with him.

Sofia Mulanovich Peruvian surfer of Croatian descent inducted in Olympic Museum

Sofía Mulánovich Aljovín is a Peruvian surfer of Croatian descent. She is the first Peruvian surfer ever to win an Association of Surfing Professionals World Championship Tour event. In 2007 she was inducted into the Surfers Hall of Fame, and in 2009 into the Olympic Museum in Laussane in Switzerland.

FOR | FROM CROATIA WITH LOVE Croatian Jazz Gala at the Lincoln Center

The AIC Foundation is launching a concert series “FORFROMCROATIA WITH LOVE” which promotes Croatian culture, art and heritage in the United States. Its first concert will be a Jazz Gala at the Lincoln Center featuring Jazz musicians from Croatia and the United States. The Jazz Gala will be held in Allen Room at the Jazz At Lincoln Center, in New York City on May 23, 2009 at 6:30 p.m.

Matko Jelavić releases his latest album Prvoj Ruži Hrvatske

Matko Jelavić (left) has released a new album of original music entitled "Prvoj Ruži Hrvatske" (First Rose of Croatia) containing twelve original songs. He has been performing and composing music since he first won at the Split Music Festival in 1988 with his original song "Majko Stara" (Old Mother).

The Vukovar Hospital 1991, important monograph about its tragedy

The English edition of the monograph The Vukovar Hospital 1991 has been published in 2008 by the Vukovar Hospital and "Society of the Croatian doctors and volunteers in 1990-1991". Its Organizer council consists of Dr. Vesna Bosanac, Dr. Juraj Njavro, and Dr. Štefan Biro. Especially important is an article by professor Andrija Hebrang, entitled: Silence of the International humanitarian organizations about the tragedy of the Vukovar Hospital.
